What does your actual payer mix leave after friction?

Model four editable payment channels, cancelations, collection loss, admin time, billing cost, credentialing delay and revenue concentration—without pretending a payer name determines a rate.

Every dollar amount below is an editable example.

No commercial payer rate is supplied, inferred or recommended. Enter the amount your own contract, offer or fee schedule supports. The tool stores and sends nothing.

Use a separate card for private pay, each payer contract, a platform, an EAP or another materially different arrangement. Every edit updates that channel and the whole practice immediately.

“Collected fee” means the total amount expected for a completed visit under that exact channel—not the billed charge. Credentialing delay affects the first year only.

Read the result carefully

What this model does—and does not—answer.

01A payer name is not a contract

Product, network, administrator, CPT code, license, location and contract channel can all change the amount. Use only your own supported input.

02Collections are not profit

The result subtracts the entered billing percentage and values admin time separately. It does not include rent, software, payroll tax, benefits, income tax or every denial.

03Delay is a cash-flow problem

Credentialing delay changes first-year collections; it does not change the routine annual scenario after the channel is operating.

04Concentration is visible, not judged

The largest revenue channel is flagged at 35 percent and 50 percent. Those thresholds are planning prompts, not financial advice or a claim that diversification is always preferable.

Related evidence

Verify inputs before comparing channels.

Contract evidence

Compare a written payer offer

Separate the fee, billing cost, administrative duties and effective hourly result.

Public evidence standard

What can safely be published as a rate

Official schedules, dated job postings and thresholded permission-based aggregates stay visibly separate.

Demand evidence

See which payer names appeared in referrals

Demand mentions are not reimbursement evidence, market share or provider supply.

Single-channel comparison

Compare insurance with private pay

Use the simpler calculator when you only need two channels.

You should not have to work this part out on your own.

Once a month: free tools and apps worth having, better ways to run the admin side of a practice, what other California therapists are actually doing, and anything new here that might save you an afternoon.

About monthly. One click to leave. Never sold, never shared. The consent box is separate and unticked because California requires it — and because it should be.
