Your details

Four facts. The rest of the wording is the statute’s.

The name is your name exactly as it appears in the Board’s records; the number is the license or registration number; the expiration date is the one on the license. Associates pick their registration type. Educational psychologists have no associate registration under this section.

NOTICE TO CLIENTS

02Documenting delivery

Subdivision (c) of each section: “Delivery of the notice required by this section to the client shall be documented.” The statute does not prescribe how. One line in the chart at intake does it:

The rule

One section per license, three subdivisions each.

(a)The notice, in at least 12-point type, before services start or as soon as practicable.

“NOTICE TO CLIENTS — The Board of Behavioral Sciences receives and responds to complaints regarding services provided within the scope of practice of [marriage and family therapists / clinical social workers / professional clinical counselors / licensed educational psychologists]. You may contact the board online at www.bbs.ca.gov, or by calling (916) 574-7830.” B&P §4980.32, §4996.75, §4999.71, §4989.17.

(b)From 1 July 2025, four more facts on the notice.

The licensee’s or registrant’s full name as filed with the Board, the license or registration number, the type of license or registration, and its expiration date.

(c)Delivery documented.

“Delivery of the notice required by this section to the client shall be documented.” The method is yours; the record is not optional.
